Rochester, MI- Oakland Hockey general manager Corey Hagood has announced that forward Jeffery Schmidt has committed to Oakland. He is one of several recruits that will help bolster the lineup of head coach Sean Parker.

“I chose to commit to Oakland because I have always wanted to play college hockey.” Schmidt stated.

Schmidt comes to the Golden Grizzlies from Davison High School, where he scored 67 goals and 61 assists for a total of 128 points in 45 games played. He will study nursing while at Oakland.

“Oakland was just what I was looking for, a school with a good medical program while also having a good hockey program.” Schmidt added.

A speedy forward he will contribute on both ends of the ice this coming season. “My strongest attribute is my speed, I would say I am a good hybrid player who contributes to both offense and defense.” Schmidt said. ” I like to put a lot of pressure on the opposing team on forechecks and backchecks.”
