Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that forward Jack Anderson has committed to Oakland. Jack is the brother of Oakland forward Vincent Anderson. “It means a great deal not only to myself and my brother, but also my family that I get the opportunity to play with my brother again.” Anderson stated. “We played together for a year in high school and built a ton of chemistry on and off the ice, as we played together on a line, setting records and making each other even better.”

“We are excited to have Jack, who will return along side his brother Vincent, Jack is a tough talented kid, he will help us in all three phases of our game.” Oakland head coach Nick Mammel stated. “He fills a big need as a right handed shot as well.”

“We had only been recruiting Jack for about a week, he’s seen what other recruits we have, and loves the plan that is coming together. Adding him gives us another building block for players of his caliber to stay home and become a Golden Grizzly! 96 days away but I’m ready for it to be tomorrow.” Mammel added.

Anderson comes to Oakland from the Espanola Paper Kings in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) where he scored 19 goals and 26 assists in 48 games this past season. He has 29 goals and 34 assists the past two seasons.

“I made the decision to continue playing at Oakland because I want to be apart of a program with quality and driven people.” Anderson stated. “From what I’ve seen from skating and meeting some of the guys this summer, I’m impressed with the leadership from Keith Pilut, my brother Vincent Anderson, and Gonzalo Almanza.”

Anderson will bring his playmaking speed all over the ice for Oakland. “I’m a fast, playmaking forward that plays a 200 ft game.” Anderson said. “I excel in all areas of the game, mostly in part due to my skating as I’m effective on the power play, penalty kill, and even strength. I’ve developed a scoring touch and leadership ability in my two years of Tier II junior hockey while being apart of two amazing programs in the NOJHL.”

Anderson was impressed with the coaching staff during the recruiting process, which helped make his decision to commit easier.”My impressions of the coaching staff were very high, I knew that Coach Mammel had a good relationship with my brother and I knew that he was interested in me during this past season.” Anderson stated. “As soon as I was home I could tell that Coach Mammel was pushing to get me at OU which made my decision that much easier to go where I’m wanted. “

Anderson will study business at Oakland.
