Rochester, MI- Oakland ACHA Hockey general manager Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that forward Xavier Sanchez has committed to Oakland. Xavier played last season at the North Oakland Eagles (USHS) where he scored six goals and added five assists. “Committing to Oakland was definitely the right fit for me to grow, compete, and better myself as a hockey player and a person.” Sanchez stated.
“We are pumped to have Xavier join our 2026 recruiting class.” Assistant coach Greg Meuser stated. “We are happy he is trusting us in continued growth on and off the ice. Adding Xavier helps boost our roster. For fans, you’ll expect him to give it his all every shift and that’s what we need, guys with high motors, and no quit.”
Sanchez was looking for a place that would help him develop and the DI program at Oakland was the right fit. “I made the decision to continue playing hockey at Oakland because I believe it is where I will learn and better myself on the ice.”
He’s a team first player who takes pride in his game and will help use that to his advantage. “I’m a reliable two way forward.” Sanzhez said. “I take pride in playing offense and defense, making smart plays, setting up my teammates, and putting the team above all else.”
The commitment from the coaching staff to help him grow not only on the ice, but off was a big factor in Sanchez joining the team “The coaching staff made it very easy for me to make my decision.” He stated. I could tell they are passionate about hockey and committed to helping their players grow both as a hockey player and as a person.”
