Rochester, MI- Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manger Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that forward Gonzalo Almanza has been named as an alternate captain for the 2025-26 season. The sophomore quickly took on a leadership roll within the program, and earned this honor from Oakland head coach Nick Mammel.
Almanza joins the leadership group of captain Keith Pilut, alternates Stefano Mini, and Lance Markowitz.
“Being an assistant captain on any team is an honor, responsibility, and something that I don’t take lightly. I’m excited for next season to help in creating a winning culture and pushing the team on the ice in my new role.”
“Gonzalo stepped up last year and really brought the team together, not only was he a major glue guy, he was a huge factor on the ice for us as well. I expect him to keep advancing in his development and bring even more to the table this year.”
