Rochester, MI-Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood has announced that forward Alessandro Nicastro has transferred to Oakland. Nicastro comes to Oakland from Cleary University (ACHA DI). “I am extremely excited to come to Oakland!” Nicastro said. “It’s a great school and I’m excited to play hockey here.” He is a native of Maple, ON and played juniors in the USPHL Premier, GMHL and the EHLP.
“He comes to us from a great program, he will slot right into our lineup and help bring leadership to our team.” Oakland head coach Nick Mammel stated. “He’s a heartbeat type player that gives you everything that he has every night, and that’s the culture I’m trying to create. He’s will bring our level of compete up. Very grateful they chose us in the portal.”
“I really like Oakland’s rink and the system they have in place with their team.” Nicastro said. “The program also has a great history behind it, and I am really excited that I get an opportunity to play here.”
He will work hard every shift, and add an element of grit into the Oakland lineup. “I am an elusive playmaking forward who can put the puck in the net, and also get in the dirty spots of the ice.” Nicastro stated. “I won’t shy away from a battle in the corners and pride myself on my work ethic. “
“I’m excited to get to play under coach Mammel, as he has a lot of knowledge of the game and I can learn a lot from him.” Nicastro added.
Nicastro will study Business Management at Oakland.
