Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that defenseman Sebastian Stukel has transferred to Oakland. Stukel played last season for Lawrence Tech (ACHA DIII) and played juniors for Motor City Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)
“Excitement.” Stukel stated about transferring to Oakland. “It’s a new school, new team, and a new season. I’m looking forward to representing Oakland on the ice, and continuing my degree at such an illustrious university.”
The coaching staff led by head coach Nick Mammel was a big reason for coming to Oakland. “I feel the coaching staff’s passion for this program ” Stukel stated. “This team is beginning a new chapter with this year being Head Coach Nick Mammal’s second with the team. Looking at his previous coaching accomplishments, and even talking with people who have worked with him in the past, I believe he will turn this team into something truly special, and I’m excited to be apart for the ride.”
“We are happy to have Sebastian on the roster this upcoming year, he will add defensive depth and size to our roster.” Head coach Nick Mammel stated. “Sebastian has amazing hockey IQ and loves to PK using his length and strength to create problems for others PP. I’m excited to have him and can’t wait to see his growth within our program.”
Having played hockey since he was a little kid, Stukel continues to play because he still has a love and passion for the game. “I have played hockey for 20 years now at all levels. I have also seen a lot of friends quit the sport in that time due to losing the desire to play. ” Stukel said. “Like Jaromir Jagr, I play for the love of the game. I know coming to Oakland will provide me the opportunity to continue to play the game I love at a competitive level. It is for this same reason I have taken on Jagr’s number as my own, 68, for this upcoming season.”
“I will be coming to Oakland as a Junior to study Mechanical Engineering.” Stukel said. “It is with this degree I hope to pursue a career in aerospace, preferably working with propulsion engines for a company like Raytheon or Lockheed Martin.”
