Rochester, MI- Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that defenseman Luca Cottone has committed to Oakland. Cottone comes to Oakland from Concordia University Ann Arbor (ACHA DI). “I am the third member of my family to attend Oakland, as both my parents graduated from this university.” Cottone stated.

“I look forward to committing to OU and am excited about all the great opportunities.”

“The staff is excited to have Luca transfer to us.” Assistant coach Greg Meuser stated. “He will bring a veteran presence to the team transferring from Concordia. Bringing in Luca will help the competitive culture we are building at OU. He’s a hard working player who we can trust defensively.”

The University being closer to home for the Waterford native was also an important factor in his decision to transfer, along with the education. “I decided to attend Oakland because of its great computer science program and its proximity to home.” Cottone said.

He says he is a dedicated player who makes the most of his ice time. “On the ice, I am very dedicated.” Cottone said. “Last year, I was always one of the last people on the ice for practice and the only one at a couple of optional practices. I am always looking for feedback on how I can improve and will bring my best in practices and games.”

“I am more of a defensive defenseman who focuses on proper positioning. I am also a very fast skater.”

He appreciated the recruiting process from the Oakland staff. “I have had positive experiences with the coaching staff. They were very eager to have me and answered all my questions.” Cottone added.

Cottone is studying Cybersecurity.
