Rochester, MI- Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood is pleased to announce that forward James Clapp has committed to Oakland. Clapp comes to Oakland from Troy United (USHS) and becomes the ninth commit in the 2026-26 recruiting class.

“I’m excited to continue my education and play hockey for Oakland.” Clapp said.

“I’m excited to play and grow as a player with this program. “I decided to continue playing here because of the community that there is, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with this team.”

Oakland is happy Clapp chose to commit. “We are thrill to have James be part of our organization.Oakland assistant coach Cole Helgemo stated. “He trust us in his development and that’s exactly what we are set out to help him with.”

On the Ice, Clapp will use his hockey IQ to make an impact on both ends of the ice. “I’m a two-way forward and I like to emphasize my play in the defense zone. I use my knowledge of the game to make smart plays in both ends of the ice.”

The recruitment process was made easy by the coaching staff. “The coaching staff has been great to work with, Coach Nick (Mammel) has been super helpful with providing more information for the program.” Clapp added.

Clapp is studying accounting and finance.
