Rochester, MI- Oakland ACHA DI Hockey general manager Corey Hagood has announced that forward Joseph Aiello has committed to Oakland. “I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to Oakland University to continue my hockey career.” Aiello stated. “From the moment I connected with the program, I knew it was the great fit for me both on and off the ice. I can’t wait to be part of such a competitive team, represent OU, and contribute to the program’s success.”

“We are excited to have Joe join us next season.” Assistant coach Greg Meuser stated. “He helps with adding size to our lineup, and he’s not afraid to use his size to win those small battles, no matter where they are on the ice. He’s someone that brings a heavy shot, and can score from anywhere in the offensive zone. We are honored that he trusts us with his continued development on the ice as a hockey player, and off the ice with his academic’s and future career.”

Aiello comes to Oakland from Lakes Area United where he played in 45 games scoring 34 goals and adding 31 assists.

“I chose to continue playing hockey at Oakland University because of the competitive atmosphere, the strong team culture, and the opportunity to develop both as a player and a person.” Aielllo stated. “From my conversations with the coaching staff and seeing the program’s direction, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. Oakland provides the ideal balance of academics and athletics, and I’m excited to be part of a team that is dedicated to success. I can’t wait to contribute to the program and take my game to the next level with the Grizzlies.”

He will bring a high hockey IQ, along with the ability to creating scoring chances for the Oakland forwards. “The coaches can expect a forward who brings passion, determination, and a high hockey IQ to every game. I am a driven player who reads the ice well, makes smart decisions, and executes plays with precision.” Aiello said.

“My strong puck-handling skills allow me to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities, while my great shot makes me a constant offensive threat. I take pride in playing a complete game, contributing not only offensively but also being responsible in all areas of the ice.” Aielllo said.

“I am a skilled and intelligent forward who can generate offense while making smart plays to support my team. My ability to handle the puck effectively and finish scoring chances makes me a dangerous player in the offensive zone. I thrive in high-pressure situations and use my hockey IQ to anticipate plays, create space, and set up teammates. My drive and competitive nature ensure that I bring energy and effort every shift, making me a valuable asset in any situation.”

The coaching staff made a good impression on Aiello and what the future of the program is. “My first impression of the coaching and recruiting staff at Oakland University was extremely positive.”

Aiello plans to study Business at Oakland.
