Rochester Hills, MI- Oakland Hockey General Manager Corey Hagood has announced the return of assistant coach Nick Tomczyk to the same position. He joins the staff of head coach Nick Field and assistant coach Aaron Hundt for the 2019-20 season.

“I’ve know Nick for a few years now.” Head coach Nick Field stated about the hiring of Tomczyk. “He’s going to be a huge asset for us.”

Tomczyk an associate head coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Oakland from 2010-13 under then head coach Jeremy Bachusz, until Tomczyk was named as the first head coach of the Rochester College Hockey program where he spent three seasons and the program achieved its highest ranking at #18 in the ACHA Rankings under Tomczyk’s leadership.

He was also as an assistant coach for the Honeybaked Hockey Club (Midget AAA) where the team was MAHA State Semi-Finalist in 2017 and USA Hockey Youth National Championship bronze medalist.

Oakland went 74-39-10 during Tomczyk’s first stint as an assistant coach finishing #12, #8 and #2 with a National Championship game appearance, a GLCHL Regular Season Title and a GLCHL Playoff Championship.

Tomczyk is currently a scout for the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and coach for the USA National Development Camp with USA Hockey.
