Rochester Hills, MI- Oakland Hockey general manager Corey Hagood has announced that forward Brendan Smith has committed to Oakland. Smith comes to Oakland from the Lansing Wolves (USPHL Premier) where he led the team in goals (32) assists (30) and points (62) in 43 games played this past season. His 32 goals was fourth most in the USPHL Premier last season.

“Oakland is a great school who has proven themselves both academically and athletically.” Smith stated

He also led the team in goals (29), assists (28) and points (57) in his first season (2017-18) with the Wolves. In his two seasons in Lansing, Smith notched 119 points averaging 1.4 points per game.

“I wanted to be part of a school with good traditions.” Smith said. “Oakland seemed like a great fit because they offered both of my major interests.”

Smith comes into the program to fill a key spot up front for head coach Nick Field and assistant coach Aaron Hundt. “I am a good skater who makes plays from that (skating).” Smith added. “I try to make something happen every time I’m on the ice and use my skating to do that. You can expect me to work hard and produce for the team.”

While the Oakland coaching staff continues to recruit to fill out the remaining spots on the roster, Smith is planning on studying either business, nursing or physical therapy while at Oakland.
