Cam joins brothers Cory and Jeremy in Committing to Oakland

Rochester Hills, MI- Oakland Hockey general manager Corey Hagood has announced that forward Cam Schwartz has committed to Oakland. He joins the program as head coach Nick Field, assistant coach Aaron Hundt and assistant coach Nick Tomczyk remake the Golden Grizzlies.

Oakland held its early signing day this weekend at the ONYX Ice Arena. The Golden Grizzlies have seven new commits we will be announcing. Coach Field and his staff are also still on the recruiting trail, with a few more spots open on next season’s roster

Schwartz comes to Oakland from the Metro Jets, when they were a member of the NA3HL where he scored 37 goals and 58 assists. He played a season with the Toledo Cherokee (NA3HL) where he scored 11 goals and 21 assists.

“What made me choose Oakland to commit to was the great programs that they offer, I’ve heard amazing things about all of their programs and they all caught my attention.” Schwartz stated.

“Another thing was that I would be able to commute from home which is going to save me a lot of money in housing which I thought was great. Last they’re hockey program is all around great, I love the coaching staff and I know some of the players from previous teams which I think is great for team chemistry on the ice.”

Schwartz joins his brothers Cory and Jeremy on committing to Oakland this off-season.

Cam will be a power forward who can throw the body while also contributing on the offensive end of the ice. “I tend to consider myself a power forward, I believe I can see the ice really well which makes it easy to develop plays to get good scoring chances.” Schwartz stated.

“One thing I think improved most in my game was my speed and stamina and I think that is a huge factor that can make me an overall better player. I can also throw my body around on the ice when needed and I always thought that was a great thing to get the guys going on the bench when they see a big hit.”

While at Oakland Schwartz will study business, and specifically HR development.
